Start your own Apparel Business - Ages 13 and up

Learn the business side of fashion, explore key trends shaping the future of the industry, and gain an understanding of how fashion brands are built and launched. This online course is organized to show the ranges of roles necessary to build or manage a fashion company. We will explore the steps of fashion production with a focus on marketing and entrepreneurship, while providing insights and perspectives on the industry from a wide variety of insiders. Students will be encouraged to engage in the process of bringing a collection from idea to distribution, with project-based exploration into key facets of the industry. A sequence of activities and assignments builds students’ skills and understanding of the business behind the fashion industry from every angle, including identifying your consumer, sourcing and costing materials, communicating with factories, creating a unique brand identity, and managing retail and wholesale relationships. Students will ultimately understand how to develop effective communication strategies geared towards collaborating with major fashion brands and decision-makers throughout the field.

Voiceover - Ages 12 and under

Learn the art of voiceover acting from comedian, writer and voiceover actor Kim “Dicey” Douglas. Dicey played the lead character in podcast drama “The Imperfection” which was an official selection for the Tribeca Film Festival. Attendees can look forward to learning the following:

• How to create a professional voice demo reel
• How to audition for voiceover

Posing and Runway - Ages 13 and up

Our Musical Theatre class will focus on ensemble building, beginner acting and vocal technique, and learning beginner musical theatre choreography.

• Warm Up for about 15 minutes includes cardio and stretch
• Will learn a short technique heavy combo to do across the floor
• Will learn a 30-45 second combo
• Perform in groups

We will explain the terminology and inner workings of the entire industry, covering motion pictures, television, theatre, music and new media including the six major principle businesses: film, television, music, new media, theater and radio.  This class is an essential reference for students or indeed anyone fascinated by the industry that intrigues most of us and has a profound effect on our society.
