Meet Hadley McNulty

Meet Hadley McNulty. Born and raised in Corydon, Indiana in the summer of July 2014. At only 4 years old, while putting her hair in a ponytail, Hadley’s mom noticed a circular hairless region that was about the size of a dime. Shortly after, she started noticing that more and more of Hadley’s hair was thinning and falling out. With the discovery of her significant hair loss, they decided to consult with a doctor which led to Hadley being diagnosed with Alopecia November 2018. Within a few months of Hadley’s diagnosis, majority of her hair fell completely out.

In May of 2019, Hadley’s mom decided to shave what little of Hadley’s hair that was left. They tried many creams, treatments, even injections but still no luck with growing her hair back. But mom was determined to prevent Hadley from thinking of herself as different or to be defined by her hair loss. So, Hadley’s mom began searching for Facebook support groups for parents of children with Alopecia. While searching, she found a non-profit organization, Children with Hair Loss. Hadley was gifted a wig from their company along with a special invitation to model in their Annual Charity Ball.

After the Charity Ball, Hadley asked to be involved more in similar events because it made her feel so amazing. Her parents decided to enter Hadley into a Fair Queen contest and she won first place. She loved the pageant so much she asked to participate in more pageants and modeling contests. So that’s what they did and from there, the rest is history. Hadley is now our reigning Miss Indiana Elementary America and in June she will be competing for the national title. Being involved in pageants has allowed Hadley to express herself and build her self-confidence.  She has made it her mission to educate the world about Alopecia and how it affects children.

Hadley currently lives with her parents, Thomas and Megan, brother Gavin and puppy Radar in Indiana.  She is actively working hard to achieve her goal of winning the Miss Elementary America national title. Miss Elementary promotes an amazing platform for anti-bullying and Hadley loves that part of the platform. She would love nothing more than to be the face of that platform. The national pageant is in June of 2023 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Hadley wants people to know that it’s okay to be different and that should never stop you from chasing your dreams. And last, to teach people that what makes you different is what makes you beautiful!
